Edible attracts young men to the soil

Young men have in recent years begun to appear at garden shops in search of plants that are edible.
But it is not at all like the “green wave” when it would become self-sufficient in potatoes and carrots. Now they want more to have an extra plus in modern existence, says Horton omen Johan Orre.
The typical customer in the gardening industry is a middle-aged woman who has had time to pursue their own interests. But now she has been joined by men aged 20-30.
When it comes to interest in edible things we see in the shops a clear overrepresentation of men, and especially when younger men, says Johan Orre on The plantation.
They are particularly interested in plants that can be grown in pots, which can then be used in cooking.
chilli, spices and tomatoes is a gateway to a growing interest. Many young men’re now interested in cooking and then it is no strange extension to grow their own spices.
But there are also other goodies that are suitable for container production. A hot trend this year, for example, blueberries and cloudberries, known as Superbar with high nutritional content.
But even goji berry, which we import from China and that cost a fortune to buy, is extremely light grown, says Johan Orre.
