Practice for asylum seekers be abolished completely – the Swedish Radio

When it comes to internships, it is now time to focus on the growing crowd that received and will receive a residence permit, mean the secretary of state at the ministry of labour, Anders Kessling.

– When the Swedish Migration board’s processing times will decrease so get more people to residence permit and then we need more apprenticeships for those who have a residence permit, says the Kessling.

more than 13 300 asylum seekers, who has not a residence permit, have taken advantage of these unpaid internships in the year. Now abolished this practice altogether, despite the fact that Anders Kessling says that in many ways has been valuable.

” Absolutely.” But when the turnaround time is reduced, and when it is, above all, språkinsatser, other efforts that civil society makes as the right of asylum seekers to have, says the Kessling.

These internships have been criticised for asylum seekers has been used as free labour. The critique has played the role for the decision to abolish the practice.

” It was an aspect which could weigh in. But above all, we want to weigh in on and bet placements on the many newcomers who now have a foot into the labour market.

In place for the practice it courses, information and coordination of actions targeted to asylum seekers. The county administrative boards and the national council of adult education have received extra funding for this.

But with shorter processing times priority should be given to those who have received a residence permit, according to Anders Kessling. Despite the fact that the current processing time is considerably longer than the 4-5 months he mentions as objectives, he is convinced that this will work.

– We believe that it will work just fine.

the Government is late considering that many of these changes will start now at the end of the year. Gabriella Strååt, at the county administrative board in Värmland is the national coordinator of the county administrative board’s work with this issue. She is not concerned, but understand the criticism that the government come late with their decisions.

– It can think. But at the same time, is this business as we already have been going on for several years for asylum seekers. It added to the next year is more co-ordination and, above all, more funds to civil society, ” says Gabriella Strååt.
