Police describe the holiday season as the “market of thieves”
During a hard night, there have been at least 20-25 burglary – only in the west of Sweden.
– It is not surprising. Every year, we warn for it, ” says Stefan Gustafsson, presstalesperson with the police in the Western region.

Extremely active
the Thieves have been extremely active. In just a few hours has between 20 and 25 notifications of house-breakings in the Western Region come in to the police. That fear that it’ll be even more.
– There are so many of which are known during the night, but it is certainly a large number, then there are many who have not come home yet. I do not have time to read and write up all the burglary, I will not catch, ” says Stefan Gustafsson, presstalesperson with the police in the Western region.
Already on christmas eve day, the police several reports of burglaries in the county. One of them took place in Lindome, where the resourceful neighbors led the police to the suspected thieves who later was arrested on a bus.
“Is the market of thieves”
During the big weekends, you will run the extra risk of burglary, says the police.
– It is the market of thieves. It is a well-known title, but there it is. Every year, we warn for it, but it doesn’t matter because there will always be that we visit our relatives. We want to celebrate with relatives and friends and it means that we have to leave our homes, ” says Stefan Gustafsson.
– It is not surprising. Basically, it is empty in 50% of the homes during christmas.
the Majority of the night the burglary took place in the Gothenburg area. But thieves have also operated to the north, in the Fyrbodalstrakten.
