Crime. Kaj Linna was sentenced against his denial of the brutal rånmordet in Kalamark in Norrbotten 2004. Now he has been granted the stature of the Supreme court.

Earlier in the day, Thomas Magnusson called and congratulated Kaj Linna, who was with his family when the news was received.
– He was, of course, relieved and satisfied in every possible way. We have been working together for almost three years now. He has been a fighter the entire time. It has to appear a certain calm here now, ” says Thomas Magnusson.
Unreliable witness
Despite the lack of technical evidence and witnesses not been able to place him at the scene, was sentenced Kaj Linna to life in prison for murder and aggravated robbery.
It was in april 2004 that the two brothers were attacked on a farm two miles outside of Piteå. One of the brothers was brutally beaten to death, while the other survived.

Kaj Linna has now been detained for twelve-and-a-half years. He has not set foot outside the walls since he was arrested. Kaj Linna has never requested to have his sentence fixed, because he considers himself to be falsely convicted.
– He would never admit a crime he did not commit, says his lawyer.
the Court of appeal shall now begin to examine the case and decide how the case is to be tried. A trial it will be, because the Supreme court has decided it. It is then up to the court if Linna will be freed or tried again.

Timeline: Linna-case
April 2004: Two brothers attacked on their farm outside Piteå, sweden. A badly injured while the other was brutally murdered.
May 2004: A witness pointing out Kaj Linna as the perpetrator. The surviving brother, however, point out another offender, but he shall have the alibi to the prosecution.
December 2004: the Luleå district court shed Kaj Linna of murder and aggravated robbery. He gets life in prison.
March 2005: the appellate Court determines the judgment.
October 2010: Linna is very close to be granted to the erection and new trial. He is refused in the Supreme court with the voting figures 3-2. Two times before have his petition denied.
December 2016: the Supreme court grants a Berth Linnas petition and the case shall be examined again by the Court of appeal for Upper Norrland.
