It was at 20:47 on Saturday evening as relatives of a 68-year old man alerted the SOS that he had not come home after having been out running the boat at Snake Island, off Öregrund.
– The person in question had promised to call when he arrived, which he had not done. His family tried to get hold of him, and also went home to his house where he was not. After a while they found his boat 50 feet from home jetty and alerted us, says Christer Haglund, incident commander at the Maritime Administration’s Marine and aviation rescue.
Maritime Administration’s rescue was called in and also a number of boats participated in the search.
– After a while they found a person in the water. He was admitted to the country to be brought by ambulance to the hospital Östhammars says Christer Haglund.
Despite repeated resuscitation attempts were, however, not man’s life to save. Police advised during Saturday night relatives of the outcome.
