One person missing after plane crash – Västerbotten Courier

A pilot was forced to jump out of a glider when it broke apart in the air. Planets passengers missing after the accident outside Nikkaloukta, west of Kiruna.

– There were two people on board, but a person jumped with a parachute and survived. It was he who alerted and stated that the plane broke apart in the air, says Eva Nordstrom, communicator at air and sea rescue center, said.

The man who managed to get out of the plane was conducted by snowmobile to a waiting ambulance, while a large sökinsats after the passenger has begun. It is unclear whether even this person managed to get out of the aircraft.

– It is a very go-around now with mountain rescuers, scooter drivers and helicopters in the air, says Eva Nordström.

Police have hopes for quick retrieval of passenger and aircraft, even though it may have been broken up into small pieces.

– We will try to find it here before it gets dark and it has we are pretty good conditions for because it is light for a few hours, says Börje Öhman, the police in Norrbotten.

According to Aftonbladet, the men took part in a gliding camp organized every year by the Gliding Club Kiruna. Some fifteen aircraft should have been in the air on Monday.
