Fewer plays, but more problems – Västerbotten Courier

More people play for money in an unhealthy way, according to a new study from the Public Health Agency, reports SVT. 31,100 people have the highest rate of problem gambling, compared with 23 700 people seven years ago. Young and economically disadvantaged are greater problem gamblers, according to the study.

The number of people who are at risk for unhealthy gambling has fallen from just over 160,000 to 130,000.

The proportion of Swedes who play to win money at least once a month, has dropped from 70 percent of the population to 58 percent. Now playing 2.1 million Swedes.

The study was performed in collaboration with Statistics Sweden and shows the proportion of Swedes who play for money, among other things online games, gaming machines, harness racing and casino.
