The older you are, the greater the likelihood that you think that wind turbines disfigure the landscape, according to German research.
Stefan Wolf , a professor at the Hochschule Westphalia-Lippe, has by following the subjects’ eye movements evaluated how they perceive landscapes. At the same time, participants have to answer questions.
– We have determined that younger people who see a mountain ridge without wind turbines think something is missing. They expect there to be a wind farm, says Wolf Energieargentur NRW.
People who are around 40 and younger looking wind turbines as a natural part of the landscape, while the elderly are disturbed, according to the results.
Wolf has also examined whether large wind turbines is more disturbing than small ones. It turned out that the great, by the rotor blades move more slowly, even thought to have a calming effect.
