Anders Eklund no longer in police custody – Aftonbladet

The prosecutor in Jönköping has lifted the arrest of Anders Eklund after hearing about the six-year-old Jasmina who disappeared in 1997.

But it does not mean that the allegations against him are gone.

– He is still in a state of reasonable suspicion, says prosecutor Anders Brokelind.

Anders Eklund transferred to Jonkoping from Norrtälje Institution on Monday.

After initial questioning at the office of the public prosecutor decided to arrest him on suspicion of murder, alternatively kidnapping.

On Tuesday and Wednesday, he questioned whether 6-year-old Jasmina who disappeared in Småland Sävsjövägen 1997.

But, after today’s hearing, the prosecution has decided to cancel the request.

– I have not been clear why the assumption that the girl has gone through a crime, said Eklund’s lawyer Silbersky at lunchtime on Wednesday.

And at 16 o’clock news came on that request is lifted.

Still suspicious

– He is still in a state of reasonable suspicion but also in the light of that he can not obstruct the investigation, I at 15.45 taken the decision to cancel the arrest, said prosecutor Anders Brokelind in a press release.

Johan Frisk manage the group for serious crimes to the Police Department in California and has worked with Jasmina case for many years.

– We believe that we have evidence that he remained in Sävsjövägen at the time of Jasmina disappearance. However, we have no evidence in the form of DNA or a body, he says.

Tommy Thorngren is spokesperson for police in Jönköping. He says it makes no difference to the police about Anders Eklund has been arrested or not.

– Actually this does not affect the police. For the police, he is still a person we are watching and want to dismiss or confirm his involvement in this matter, he says to Aftonbladet.

How is it that the matter was omrubricerat from disappearing to murder?

– We had good reason to believe that the case of a murder, but exactly what it is because I can not go into, he says.

Will you clear up this case?

– The goal must always be to clear up the matter. It’s been 17 years and it could be an aggravating factor, but we continue to look at Anders Eklund as suspicious, says Tommy Thorngren Aftonbladet.
