Even if no levels have been exceeded, calls the work äggbranschen to investigate what lies behind, and take action.

back in 2004, it was discovered that organic eggs contained more dioxin than the other eggs. The time linked it to the feed, fish meal from baltic sea fish, and the requirements of the fiskmjölet tightened. But the levels have continued to rise, writes the newspaper the Country.

“It is important to the industry now looks at what the higher levels in organic eggs depends on,” said Helena Storbjörk Windahl, head of department at the Swedish national Food administration in a press release.

the trade association the Swedish Egg says in a press release that, as a first step, the plan

is to reduce the proportion of fishmeal in hönsfodret.

“For the moment, there are no functional compensation to fiskmjölet in the organic feed, therefore, we can currently not exclude fiskmjölet completely”, says Astrid Lovén Persson, director of Swedish Eggs.

the Organization has also launched a study to find other possible causes for the increase.

Dioxins and PCBS are environmental toxins that are stored in the body throughout life and is harmful in the long term.
