When the ambulance finally arrived, it was too late. The patient was already dead. Now admits SOS Alarm operator made a mistake and not prioritized ambulance resources correctly.
Her death occurred last fall at a nursing home in Karlskrona, writes the Blekinge County Magazine.
An accommodation had difficulty breathing , was pale, cold sweat and complaining of chest pains. A summoned nurse felt that the patient needed to be collected from the ambulance to the hospital, but was told by SOS Alarm that all ambulances at the time was occupied. Only after four and a half hours came the ambulance team, but when the patient had already died.
The Medical Directors nurse in Karlskrona reported the incident to the alarm company, following an internal investigation concluded that the emergency operator does not interviewed nurse enough about the patient’s condition, with the result that ambulance transport were too low a priority.
