Policies. A majority of people in EU member states want more decisions to be taken at EU level. It shows the EU’s annual Eurobarometer, reports the online magazine Europa portal. Opinion poll was made, however, in the spring, before the British referendum on “brexit”.
Around 28 000 EU citizens were asked when they agreed that more decisions should be taken at EU level.
Just over half, 51 percent, wanted more decisions to be taken at EU level, while 38 percent would not. The other 11 percent said they were undecided. Sweden stands out as the EU country with the highest number, 64 percent, were critical to give more power to the EU.
A majority of the survey respondents endorsed a joint foreign Affairs, Defence and refugee policy, but did not, however, that the EU should be further expanded.
In September, the member States’ heads of state and Government meet to discuss the future of the EU after brexit -beskedet.
