Domestic Defence Committee has not been informed that a submarine probably violated Swedish waters last year.

a ubåtsperiskop was sighted near one of the Swedish ships during a naval exercise in 2015. the staff assumed that it was a Swedish submarine that participated in the exercise, but in retrospect it has been shown that no Swedish submarine was at place at the time, writes DN. The submarine’s nationality is unknown.

periscope was sighted in the Stockholm archipelago, close to the lighthouse Vindbåden. The event is classed as a runner on a six-point scale in the Navy’s analysis, the second highest level on the probability scale.

The Minister of Defence has been informed about the incident, but the Defence Committee have been kept outside. The

supreme commander met with the Committee as recently as Tuesday.

– It would have been an ideal opportunity to inform. We set recurring question of whether there is anything to report in terms of possible incidents and violations in the air, on the water and in the water, said Hans Wallmark said.
