Vasabladet – Gas Tubes likely cause of the explosion – Vasabladet

Probably it was propane cylinders in the basement which caused a massive explosion in a residential building in the Swedish Arboga Saturday.

It is still unclear when residents can return to the property, which had extensive damage from the blast.

The doors and windows were ripped off in the blast on Saturday evening. A man tells Bärgslagsbladet Arboga Tidning that he was lying on his couch, listening to the radio when the front door suddenly blown out.

– I just heard a sharp muffled bang. Then flew the door, he said.

Four people were slightly injured in the explosion, according to rescue services.

Altogether there are some 15 apartments and several companies in the three-story house, which on Sunday was evacuated and remains sealed off. The property must be inspected for safety, which will take place at the earliest on Monday, before the police can carry out a technical examination. Police bomb group, however, has concluded that there is a risk of more explosions.

There are many indications that the explosion was caused by gas cylinders in a basement, according to police. A preliminary investigation of suspected devastation endangering the public has begun, but currently there are no suspects.
