SANDVIKEN . A 68-year-old male cyclist was hit by a police car in Sandviken tonight. What injuries the man received is unknown.
– For the notification I can see, he has been driven by ambulance to Gävle Hospital but it is not clear what damage he incurred, says Margareta Ohlander, duty officer at the Gavleborg police.
The accident happened at midnight at the intersection Högbovägen-Orrvägen in Sandviken.
According to police, the man cycled straight into the intersection without looking for. He was hit by the police car and thrown up on the hood. According to Aftonbladet, there was a lot of blood at the scene.
“Was a great pull”
Anders Jonsson passed the site shortly after the accident:
– It was a big pull with ambulance and police cars with flashing blue lights.
The rescue personnel were with a person lying apparently lifeless on the ground, he said.
According to Jonsson, many cyclists on the fly at midnight . Most on the way home from Brolles prominent in Högbobruk Saturday evening.
– Considering the large throttle, we are many who responded that there has been no report on the incident in any media on Sunday, says Anders Jonsson.
Investigates negligence
– It has started an investigation of reckless driving but no one is served, no suspicion of crime. The investigation will show what happened, says Margareta Ohlander.
The explosion was violent. The police car had to be towed from the scene with the windshield down, with damage in the front and on the roof.
