During the 2014/2015 received seven per cent of Sweden’s approximately 317,000 high school students study grant revoked due to truancy – an increase against the previous year. And historically, the latest figures record high.
– The sharp increase in the previous academic year is explained by CSN’s stringent guidelines to schools. That the level continues to rise probably has several explanations. Secondary schools have the task to report truancy at four hours of repeated absence for a month . The time limit is based on a number of decisions from the Board of Appeal for Student Aid (ÖKS). The limit and the practice has been virtually constant since 2012.
Most truant boys – 64 per cent. Only 36 percent are girls. Independent schools report a higher percentage of truants than municipal schools.
More than half of indented study help get a recovery. 15 percent in the group ends up at the bailiff because they can not handle the payment.
Gotland is the counties that had the highest percentage of truants the past academic year. The lowest proportion of truants found in Värmland, Kronoberg, Norrbotten and Västerbotten.
A total of Östergötland truant 1004 adolescents, 6.7 percent.
The biggest problems in the county have Atvidaberg where 12.2 percent of students play truant. In Norrköping reported 402 cases, 7.2 percent. In total, more than 5500 students study in Norrköping during the period.
