The Social Democrats (S) suggests a quick investigation in the case of free connection to wireless networks (WiFi) in public places in all municipalities. The goal is for it to be in place for 2-3 years.
Some municipalities already have free wifi, but most awaiting. Swedish Association of Local Authorities and Regions (SKL) want to wait because the service may be illegal, may breach competition neutrality and be outside local authority.
But Mikael Damberg, group leader for S in parliament, see the free wifi as a matter of democracy, writes svd.se.
