Large fire in Vretstorp – six buildings on fire – Aftonbladet

Firefighters from six fire stations have struggled with the extinction of a large fire in Vretstorp west of Örebro.

The fire started in a garage and spread quickly on to both the engineering buildings a residential building.

– The fire is not extinguished. It burns quite vigorously, says emergency services.

The fire started sometime around 20:00 pm in a garage located in a small industrial park. The police are working for the theory that the fire started by human error.

– We have information that the two young men have tinkered with their cars. That is what we suspect have started the fire, but what exactly happened we do not know. It will be investigated along that there are second-degree assault, says Torbjörn Roos, duty officer at the police station in the Örebro.



Strong wind messed up

Strong wind helped the fire spread rapidly on to an adjacent workshop building and an additional garage.

– After we got spread in a house on the other side of the railway. The wind blew strongly and we have had very sparks from the fire that has spread to additional workshop toss, says commander Anne Henningsson.

A large apartment building caught fire and almost completely destroyed. In total, it has been burning for five buildings and a sixth building has received minor injuries when they were scorched by the flames. Emergency services had to stop on the fire by knocking down the fifth house in order with an excavator.

– We have no information that there have been any accommodation in the residential building and we have not evacuated any person, says Anne Henningsson.

Six fire stations involved

In addition to this also closed the railway Western Main Line in as the fire raged just outside the train tracks. Transport Administration came to the site to verify that all overhead lines to the trains worked. This should have had a major impact on train services.

The fire has required great efforts from emergency services. Units from six fire stations have participated in the fighting. It still burns in the Collapsed houses.

– The fire is not extinguished. It burns quite vigorously in the remains of these buildings, says commander Anne Henningsson.
