Polish jumper – biological sensation in Blekinge – Swedish Radio

A biological sensation occurred in Blekinge. It is a completely new grodart established in any treatment ponds at the F17 in Kallinge.

The species called edible frog and are unlike other frogs in the county clear green.

We took a look together with the county administrative biologist Annika Lydänge.

It was already last year that the provincial government had knowledge of the green one almost neon colored frog in Hasselstad, but it has been low because it has been difficult to cross safely identify the new species.

But with the help of the Museum of Natural History and other experts are now 99.9 percent sure it is the rare edible frog that has established itself here.

It is very unusual for new amphibian species establishes itself in the county, and the edible frog can be registered by someone or have come with the Polish planted reeds in the ponds. And as the name indicates it goes to eat.

Fungal Disease
But Annika Lydänge are ambivalent about this sensation. Edible frog eats namely the other frog species, and in addition, it can carry an infectious fungal disease.
