One third of the teachers still lack competence in the subjects they teach, according to new statistics from the National Agency. The figures has improved slightly since last fall – 67-68 per cent of qualified teachers in primary and 52-69 percent in high school.
But in the previous statistics were counted even those teachers who are not subject to identification requirement by, as instructors and language teachers. The real growth of competent secondary teachers is therefore only around five percentage points, according to the National Agency.
The lowest proportion of qualified teachers are in the subjects of technology and Swedish as a second language.
