More and more children are sleeping pills – Laholms newspaper

Swedish Radio Echo reports that more and more children use the sleep drug melatonin – even though it is not approved for children.

More than 23 000 children aged 0-19 using melatonin according to the National Board. Why the drug is printed often is unclear, but according to the National Board may be one of the factors to be that children who have been diagnosed and medicated against ADHD often prescribed melatonin.

Another reason is that doctors often choose to write the melatonin instead of other sleep medications, which is allowed although it is not approved for children.
