– police Union has for some time put forward the need to increase diversity in the police force. So it is clear that we think that action in this direction is good.
At the same time, she points that it is important to continuously work on the issue of diversity .

The proportion of women in the the police in 2014 was just over 30 percent, while the share of with a foreign background was 7.7 percent. And in admission to basic police training in the fall of that year, the share of foreign 5.6 percent.
It is too little, the Government believes. But Ygeman do not want to set numerical target, just that the shares must be up.
The Government supports projects specifically aimed at people with a foreign background.
In one, 40 people selected. They are helped to prepare to seek and be admitted to the police academy. Participants, or their parents, to be born outside the EU and meet the basic requirements for applying to the program.
In another projects within the police should 50 people with a foreign background selected in cooperation with the Employment Service and the Immigration Service. They get a temporary job in authority, a coach and training plan.
