A local official in southern Spain Cadiz did not go to work for six years, but had to pay anyway. Now he is sentenced to pay over a quarter of a million crowns in damages.
The man, who is 69 years old, was just reward for a long and faithful service when manager realized he had not been there in six years, reports the Spanish newspaper El Mundo.
the 69-year-old claims he did not go to work because he had felt bullied by the authorities. He worked to supervise the construction of a water treatment plant in the city. There, he will have been placed because of political views within his family. He’s going after not having had any work for 14 years.
His family claims that he actually has at times been on the job and that he, in recent years has devoted days to read philosophy.
Now the man is sentenced to pay 27,000 euros – about 257 000 – in fines. The man can not be fired because he has already retired.
