No MP vote on refugee policy – Sveriges Radio

In November, the government presented a new and more restrictive migration policies.

The means that Swedish law during a three year period should be adapted to the EU minimum level.

Many ecologists were critical of the package and it started a petition to bring about a member’s vote on the migration agreement that the party has concluded with the Social Democrats.

This is equivalent to approximately 1 700 people. Lage Rahm – one of the ecologists who have pushed for the members to have their say – do not know exactly how many names collected.

– But it’s not near what we would have said he.

What do you think it is because you have not collected enough names?

– Hard to know. Either it’s not enough members who think that a member’s vote is the right way to handle this, or we have not been able to reach out to all of how to do to sign up to the member vote.

How does it feel for you who have engaged in this that it is not in the current situation?

– I think it’s boring. But it is what it is. The issue will come up in Congress, it’s a while until then, but it is in any case somewhat.

The party secretary Anders Wallner welcome the news that in the present situation does not become a member vote on the red-green government’s migration policy.

But due of the internal criticism is the Green party in February three major so-called dialogue conferences where party members get their say on refugee policy, says Anders Wallner.

– We collected the three points hundreds of ecologists, to talk about how we work as a party both to all the people who have come to Sweden and come to Sweden to get a good reception and good establishment, the opportunity to housing, work, school.
