New guidelines for Endometriosis – Sveriges Radio

One in ten women of childbearing age suffer from an inherited disease called endometriosis, which causes great pain during menstruation, sex and toilet. Endometriosis is when endometrial growth outside the uterine cavity, which can lead to endometriosis growing into other organs.

In March last year hit P4 Gavleborg Gävlebon Evelina Nilsson, 24 years old. She has the disease and has over ten years in the periods lived with pain every day.

– I have been very bitter about that right I got it and I think that it has ruined my life very much. I take pain relief throughout the day, and yet it can be so that I throw up and pass out because I have so much pain, said Evelina Nilsson then.

Today, the government decides for more money, six million crowns, to the national Board shall develop national guidelines, reports Swedish Television News.

it is something that both patients and doctors long called for. For the disease is still relatively unknown. In 2014 there were 201 endometriosis within the county and Evelina Nilsson says that many doctors do not know much about the disease.

– I have received many comments that it hurts to be a woman, and that’s how it is to have your period. But it’s not quite that, this is a completely different thing, said Evelina to P4 Gavleborg in March.
