Fridolin: It has hurt us – Aftonbladet

Several heavy S-ministers have said that asylum immigration will be a further tightening of the number who come to Sweden increased sharply again.

But the question divides the government parties significantly – according the Green Party is the limit has already been reached.

– We are already at the lowest level of what the international agreements that Sweden has entered requires, says spokesperson Gustav Fridolin (MP).

on november 24, 2015 presented the Prime Minister Stefan Löfven (S) and Deputy Prime Minister Åsa Romson (MP), a series of temporary measures to greatly reduce the number of asylum seekers coming to Sweden and put pressure on other EU countries to take any more.

In the MP’s election manifesto in 2014 is to “never will make it harder for people to come to Sweden.” Romson was in tears at the press conference said that she found it hard to imagine that her party could join the more action later on.

When the emergency brake was put in came some 10 000 asylum seekers per week. The internal criticism was massive and several MP representatives demanded that the party would leave the government. But the Greens remained. The number of asylum seekers is today under a thousand per week. According to the Migration Board’s new forecast will be between 70 000 and 140 000 people this year. According to the main scenario, the 100 000 people.

Different views of the government parties

Both Finance Minister Magdalena Andersson (S) and Migration and Morgan Johansson (S) said immediately that the lower level of 70,000 is on the border of what Sweden can handle. They were also clear that there will be more measures to tighten asylum immigration if needed.

But the Green Party has a completely different view, says spokesperson Gustav Fridolin in an interview with Aftonbladet.

– I do not experience the forecast startling. As long as the war in Syria is ongoing and far too many countries in Europe would like to pass the responsibility to someone else, get Sweden a forecast that we will get a large refugee. It is something we should be proud of.

Does your party behind it as S-ministers said that there can be talk more action?

– in the sense that more countries in the EU to take responsibility, yes. But in the situation we are in now is not the entire political debate involve as few people as possible to come here.

But how do you see that they are saying that we need to control it against the lower number and the time during it?

– It can not be determined in advance. When we decided on the measures announced in November, we had a reception of 10 000 a week. We have no system to cope. These scenarios, especially the main scenario of around 100 000 asylum seekers, is within the framework of the immigration minister previously stated that we can cope long-term with the right policies.

“We are already at the lowest level”

Last fall, said Morgan Johansson of Sweden must be reduced to a level where it will be between 1 000 and 2 000 people a week to the reception to be sustainable.

However, the S-ministers say the need to take further measures if there is too many?

– We need to take very strong measures to open our labor market, build new homes and strengthen school. But we presented in late November meant that we introduce a regulatory framework that settles on the lowest level of what the international agreements that Sweden has entered and what international law requires.

you excludes totally more action in Sweden to reduce the number of asylum seekers who are able to come to Sweden?

– have you gone to the lowest level that is one of the lowest level.

do you see any scenarios where you are forced to leave the government because of this?

– No, now we are here to make a difference and do the job. Then you do not go around thinking that you should stop.

Are you satisfied with the outcome of the measures you announced in November?

– Right now a battle within the EU and it is not possible to evaluate this autumn until we succeeded or failed urging the EU to a common responsibility.

How much need the capacity for asylum reception expanded?

– in the autumn we ended up in a crisis, when our systems were not were built to cope with so many people came. We must learn from what happened last autumn to be ready when people are forced to flee.

in your election manifesto in 2014, it was that you could never “make it harder for people to come to Sweden.” Can you see your members and voters in the eye today?

– Yes, because policy must involve in any position to do what you can to try to realize the political ideas they have. In the autumn we arrived, when the rest of the EU betrayal, so it was no longer to build a political majority to maintain a more human line than the international rules statutes.

However, you regret that you wrote “we will never”?

– In the election campaign we were with and contributed to an image of politics as something simple. In government, it then becomes our task to try to explain that it’s not easy. But when it comes to refugee policy we have in every position done everything we can to build a good policy to enable people to flee.

Does it hurt your terms of public opinion?

– Yes, I’m convinced. This has been an autumn that put things to a head. But then it also becomes more important than ever before to warn of what happens when fear takes over political discourse. That’s what I’m worried about now, that we have a highly polarized talks only about the fear that people come here.

How do you mean?

– We have managed to bring down youth unemployment, starting in launching residential and seeing how some of the measures the school is beginning to bear effect. But it’s like it is not visible in the political discourse and the shape is not our image of Sweden. We can tell you this, but in the end it is about people must experience and see it.

Will meet for party meetings

In May gather MP for Congress. The issue of refugee policy will be discussed. But already on February 27 arranges three party dialogue conferences around the country where party members will have their say on migration policy. The idea is that the ideas of the Green movement ultimately will help the government to expand capacity to receive asylum seekers.

Do you expect to be rebuked?

– In this job I will be scolded a few times per day, even by party colleagues. Otherwise it would not be a viable political party without any sort of fan club and such, we want to ecologists not be in.
