40 dogs drown every year – Vasterbotten Courier

At least 40 dogs drown each year in Sweden, according to the insurance company Agria statistics. Most drownings occur in winter when the dogs go through the ice.

Above all happen to hunting dogs in trouble, but also single cases of pet dogs like French Bulldogs, and Papillon has been affected, according to Agria.

A dog that ends up in a hole is not easy to save. A vest with integrated lifejacket or a normal dog life jacket can be crucial.

If the dog embarks on thin ice, attempt to lure it back, but do not run after it. The dog becomes significantly cooled, it is important to wipe it dry.
