Library moves into store inventory – Swedish Radio

The Librarian in Båstad Municipality Kent Field Rayner envisions the new library that will be completed in December.

Longer opening hours and greater accessibility looks Kent-Ake Rayner as some of the benefits of adding the library next to the supermarket. Actually, there were no really good options and some more traditional library, there was no money to. ICA retailer Johan Claar was asked by the municipality to rent a nuvarandelokal to the municipality to use the library and took the bait.

Bastad Municipality has signed leases for five years with the ICA retailer who agrees to rebuild the warehouse so that it will serve as a library but the interior is the municipality.

Even today, one can manage their mail and shop their medications at ICA. Bastad Municipality superintendent Henrik Andersson sees no problem in that now also the library comes under the same roof.

– We have not thought much about that favor one particular trader but on finding the right environment in Grevieparken and then there is no one else who could work the way we thought.
