Peter Althin leaves KD – Aftonbladet

The Celebrity Lawyer and KD-profile Peter Althin has made the threat into practice.

He leaves the Christian Democrats in protest against Ebba Busch Thor became party leader.

– I’m doing this for my own sake. I want to see myself in the mirror and do not support a policy I do not believe in, he says to Aftonbladet.

Peter Althin announced his resignation in a debate article published in the Swedish newspaper Svenska Dagbladet on Tuesday afternoon.

He cites several reasons for it.

A is KD’s view on the right policies, including requirements for tougher penalties but also what he calls “fuzzy abortion politics. “

The common denominator is KD’s clear right turn with Ebba Busch Thor as the newly elected party leader.

– When the new party leadership settles far rightward one forgets what I interpreters were KD was. And it is not a right-wing party, says Althin told Aftonbladet.

According to him, there is the risk that KD is now beginning to fish for populist voices.

Freedom of conscience difficult for women

– Instead of finding out why people commit crimes and try to prevent it, shout for severe punishment.

Ebba Busch Thor’s statement that medical staff should have refused to perform abortions likely to exacerbate prejudices against KD as an abortion hostile Party, says Althin.

– Although you say you are behind the current legislation impedes man without hesitation for women.

Of all the bourgeois voters are KD those in the highest extent wants closer cooperation with the Sweden Democrats, according to a poll in the DN.

There is nothing that Peter Althin like.

– But it is not strange if one adds so far out rightward. And it is possible that voter support increases by some tenths or maybe one percent.

KD heading back to the 1960s

Though Althin believes, rather, that the turn rightward likely to lead the party to the right opposite direction.

– The current management is KD about to return to the 1960s and 1970s. As low portion around two percent.

Peter Althin said he has spoken with several Christian Democrats, members of the new and old management.

But what has been said he does not want to go into on. His decision stands. And to move to any other party is not the case for the 73-year-old lawyer.

– I’m doing this for my own sake. I want to see myself in the mirror and do not support a policy I do not believe in.

KD: He is wrong

Aftonbladet have searched Ebba Busch Thor, who declines to comment.

– It is sad that Peter Althin decide to leave the Christian Democrats. He has done a lot for the party, Marlene W Antonson, press secretary for the Christian Democrats.

Peter Althin accusations of the party’s swing rightward she says this:

– The party has not changed its policy to when it terms of legal policy or medical ethics since Ebba Busch Thor was elected as party leader. She stands behind the policies that the party adopted and pushed long.
