Hakan, 94, and Ingrid, 88, has said yes to each other – Göteborgs-Posten

The average age to get married is increasing in Sweden. But love couple Hakan Andersson, 94 years, and Ingrid Jonsson, 88 years must have hit some kind of record when they promised each other eternal love on Saturday.

Hakan Andersson and Ingrid Jonsson’s proof that you’re never too old to fall in love. They met 17 years ago and recently decided to transform cohabitation into marriage.

– It feels unbelievable. Now we have moved to an apartment on Sofieberg and decided that it was time, says Ingrid Jonsson, who turns 88 years this summer.

She has lived with its almost 94- year-old husband in a house in Hyltebruk. Both have been married before and have children in different directions. But 17 years ago crossed their paths through common acquaintances.

– It is great to marry his mother. It does not happen every day, says the daughter Annmarie Vernersson.

On Saturday took the long-awaited ceremony room. Sperling Holm’s church had been decorated with flowers and in the pews sat children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren filled with eager anticipation. Hakan had rollator to help to get to the altar. A moment later led his bride out and they could complete their vows to each other.

– I have never devoted a couple in this high age, confirmed the priest Björn Berggren.

When the couple had promised to love each other in sickness and in health, they were met by cheering family members who threw rice, garlands and blew soap bubbles outside the church. And finally came also the obligatory pussen.

– It feels good to have it done. We have thought about this a long time, says Håkan.

Before retirement, he ran his own business as a sheet metal worker for 71 years. The expectant wife has a career as a nurse behind. After the wedding festivities continued in Kvibille hostelry where the couple got to spend the wedding night.

Hakan Andersson and Ingrid Jonsson is undoubtedly one of Sweden’s oldest newlyweds. Oldest in the world to get married 103-year-old George Kirby and 91-year-old Doreen Luckie from Britain when they married in June.
