The government wants to prevent the closure of agencies in smaller cities, says the civilian Minister Ardalan Shekarabi. Many smaller communities have complained that state authorities, who most recently Tax Board, put down and moves to larger towns, and now the situation mapped.
– The no overall picture of the state presence throughout the country. There has not been such an assignment from the previous government. And that means that there has not been a holistic approach, says Shekarabi.
– Each authority has obviously knows his own business but the government has a responsibility for the whole, so that we are in the country and offers citizens service throughout the country, he said.
Yesterday, nine municipal from small towns out and criticized the government for not doing anything about the demise of authorities.
Nine represents the locations where the Swedish Tax Agency has decided to close its office, including Ludvika, Lycksele and Värnamo.
The government talks about decentralization, while the authorities do the opposite, wrote municipal councils on DN debate.
But now also account Minister responsible Ardalan Shekarabi and promises to tackle the issue. He gives the commission the Agency to identify the authorities and based on that the government will tighten control of, among other things localization. There should be a balance between efficiency and presence throughout the country, says Shekarabi.
– I am prepared to clarify the principle of the authorities’ location, he said.
A problem that the government may encounter is that it is government itself that determines the location. Responsible minister must not go in and control it, and then the question is whether the government can stop the closure of such tax office in Värnamo.
– Each minister responsible has an ongoing dialogue with its authorities, says Ardalan Shekarabi.
But ministers must not go in and tell the authorities what they should do and not do.
– You have the ability to control authorities through the instructions, appropriation, regulations and the Administrative Procedure Act. If it turns out that there are major shortcomings in terms of governance, we are prepared to take the measures needed to control authorities.
Even legislative changes?
– Yes, replies Shekarabi.
