Focus on center racism – Västerbotten Courier

The government wants to spread successful models to reduce the recruitment of people to racist organizations. This year, the Government has earmarked SEK 5 million to the University of Gothenburg in order to allow a national resource center for studies on racism and violent extremism, according to TV4.

The National Resource Centre will include disseminating knowledge and techniques developed in Tolerance project that were presented by Kungälvs Municipality in collaboration with the University of Gothenburg. The project started in 1995 after the high-profile murder of 14-year-old boy John Hron. He was beaten to death by young Nazis in Kode in Kungälv municipality.

“Racism has a long and dark history in both Sweden and the rest of the world. With this initiative, we are building up society’s common protection against the values ​​that divide people into groups and set us against each other, “said Culture and Democracy Minister Alice Bah (MP) in a press release.

Government to establish also a research program and will announce funds to promote research on racism.
