Two trucks collided on E4 at the height of Claas on Monday evening. One truck caught fire and E4 will be closed in the southbound direction throughout the night.
Police received an alarm about the accident just before 19 on Monday. There are two trucks collided on the southbound section of the highway.
The police have been able to talk with both drivers.
– The driver of the first truck says he had a puncture and had to stop on the hard shoulder. And the driver of the other truck says much the same thing – he got a flat tire, ran out into the road shoulder and then drove on the first truck that caught fire, says Tor Sevelius, duty officer at the police in Östergötland.
Why lorry caught fire We do not know yet, but it was heavy black smoke that billowed out over the E4, according to police.
At 22:45 o’clock was the E4 still off in the southbound direction between junction John Deere and the junction Ödeshög. Transport Administration says on its website that the road is expected to be turned off all night and navigable again until Tuesday morning.
Traffic will be redirected to the old E4.
