More asylum seekers reported to the Security Service – Aftonbladet

Visby. Migration Board and the Security Police are stepping up cooperation to prevent acts of terrorism in Sweden.

So far this year 280 suspects reported to the Security Service.

– There are people who have made it to Sweden that definitely has the ability to commit terrorist crimes, then the Security Service to assess if they have the intention, says Anders Danielsson, Director General of the Swedish Migration Board .

the Swedish Migration Board has established a new specialized organization with 25 specialists who are working to investigate whether refugees who fled to Sweden may pose a terrorist threat.

Last year reported 460 suspected cases of Sapo – so far this year, the figure is 280, which indicates that there will be an increased number over in 2016.

– it’s about people who may pose a security threat . It can be loosely founded suspicions and there may be more serious suspicions, says Anders Danielsson.

the number of SAPO-notifications should however be related to the number of asylum seekers last year was higher than ever before, about 160 000 people.

– But we must not be naive and think that there are people who have come here to commit terrorist offenses. What we are trying to do is discover them early in the asylum process, then we leave it to the Security Service.

Can get in the other way

Of the people who SAPO-reported estimates SAPO to some 20 people every year will be classified as a security threat. So far this year 22 cases have become a reminder, that the Security Service made the assessment that people should not get asylum in Sweden.

Is there anything you can do to prevent people from slipping through the controls?

– We can develop our cooperation with the Security Service and the police. But we can not lock people pending investigation if they are suspicious or not, says Anders Danielsson.

Danielsson also stresses that there are many other ways for suspected terrorists to enter the country than by seek asylum.

– Why expose themselves to the risk of being asylum seekers? Then you get to go through the Migration Board and the Security Service investigation. It must be easier to forge a passport and get in that way, he says.

Doubling the number of war crimes

Are suspected terrorist linked to refugee flows a sensitive issue?

– Yes, it’s a difficult question. It is easy to single out groups and religions. So I think one should be very careful as a government official. The foundation of the rule of law, all people are innocent of anything displayed, you have to have something on your feet to move on. Then we must not be naive and believe that it is unilateral threats. We have, for example, Anders Behring Breivik, who carried out one of the most horrific terrorist crimes we’ve had. My advice is to be careful not to create new conflicts.

In addition to reports of suspected terrorist linked notify the Swedish Migration Board persons to the War Crimes Commission for alleged war crimes. Even where the number of complaints has increased. During the last year reported 21 people – so far this year, 25 people reported for suspected war crimes.
